Who can bulk verify
Agencies: one business per request
Google doesn't allow bulk verification for agencies that manage several different businesses in one account, or for service-area businesses. If you look after several chains, keep each client's locations in an account of their own.
How to request it
- Add every location to Business Profile Manager, usually with a bulk upload spreadsheet, and fix any errors it reports.
- Go to Verifications, then Chain, then Start.
- Complete the form about the business and submit it.
Uploading the spreadsheet on its own doesn't request verification: you have to submit the form. Google then reviews the account and may contact you for more information. You'll get an email when verification succeeds. Some businesses are asked for video verification, which needs an authorised representative at the location.
Common reasons it's delayed
Fewer than 10 eligible locations
Cause: Bulk verification needs at least 10 locations of the same business. Duplicate, suspended and disabled profiles don't count, and with fewer than 10 the Verifications tab may not appear at all.
Fix: Verify each location on its own in Business Profile Manager instead.
The spreadsheet doesn't include every location
Cause: Google expects every location you manage to be in the account before you request verification.
Fix: Add all your locations first, then submit the request. If the chain's real size differs from the number of profiles, be ready to explain why.
Errors or guideline problems on profiles
Cause: Unresolved errors in the account, or details that break Business Profile's guidelines, hold verification up.
Fix: Download your locations, fix every flagged field and import them again. See bulk upload errors and how to fix them.
Business names with extra information
Cause: Names that add a specialty, store code or location, or use different capitalisation from the business's signs.
Fix: Use the business's real-world name, capitalised the way it is in real life.
Call centre numbers and redirecting links
Cause: Phone numbers that go to a central call centre, and websites that redirect somewhere else.
Fix: Use each location's local phone number where possible, and direct links to the business's own pages.
An email address that isn't on the business's domain
Cause: Requests from addresses like a Gmail account need extra checks and take longer.
Fix: Request verification from an email address on the business's official domain.
Service-area businesses
Cause: Businesses that serve customers at their address rather than at a location can only bulk verify if their locations are also open to customers during regular hours. Service areas can't be set in the bulk tool.
Fix: Verify service-area locations without a customer-facing site one at a time.
Ineligible locations
Cause: Rental properties, homes for sale, vacant apartments, temporary events and rented facilities aren't eligible as locations.
Fix: List the central office that handles rentals or sales, and leave out temporary or rented venues.
Postal codes and country codes
Cause: Spreadsheet apps can remove leading zeros from postal codes, and a wrong country code throws off the whole address.
Fix: Keep postal codes as text and double-check the two-letter country code on every row.
Daily upload limit
Cause: An error says you've exceeded the number of locations you can upload in a day.
Fix: Submit Google's bulk verification contact form, include the error in the "Describe your issue" field, and try again later.
Checklist before you request it
Collecting locations from a client?
Send them a form instead of the spreadsheet. The Google Business Profile bulk upload template requires a store code, name, address, country and category on every row, checks phones and websites, and keeps postal codes as text, so the spreadsheet is ready before you request verification.
