Need more than three rows?
Collect every rooftop's inventory.
The free template is limited to three rows so you can try the workflow. Create your own form to send to each lot or sales manager, and get one clean feed back instead of a different spreadsheet from every location.
Create your own formGoogle's attribute names
VIN, vehicle_fulfillment, link_template and the rest, so the file uploads to Merchant Center without mapping.
Checked as they type
Repeated VINs, wrong-length VINs, unknown conditions and body styles, and links without https:// are flagged.
Your own fields
Add stock numbers, sale prices or dealer names to your own form.
Up to 1,000 rows
Room for a group's whole inventory in one file.
How it works
From the lot to Merchant Center in three steps.
01
Collect
Import an inventory export, or send the form to each location's sales manager.
02
Complete
One vehicle per row. Missing prices, short VINs, unknown conditions and photo links without https:// are highlighted.
03
Download and upload
Download the CSV and upload it as a vehicle ads feed in Merchant Center.
Why use a form?
One bad row can keep a vehicle out of your ads.
Google expects each vehicle once, identified by its VIN, with the same attributes in the same format. Spreadsheets from different lots write mileage, prices and conditions their own way, so vehicles are disapproved without anyone noticing.
A form checks each vehicle as it's entered, so the whole inventory can run in your ads.
Repeated VINs
Each vehicle appears once, identified by its VIN. Several stores use repeated fields, not repeated rows.
Values Google doesn't read
Mileage with its unit, prices with a currency code, and conditions, body styles and engines from Google's own lists.
Short or long VINs
A VIN has exactly 17 characters; a dropped character is flagged straight away.
Google vehicle ads feed template
How Google reads a vehicle ads feed
Google vehicle ads and free vehicle listings come from a feed in Merchant Center. Dealers and agencies upload a delimited text file, XML or use the API, with one vehicle per row and Google's exact attribute names as the header. Website crawls and vehicles added by hand aren't supported.
Each vehicle needs an ID, a VIN, a product category, a fulfillment type, a condition, brand, model, year, mileage, price, color and an image link. In-store vehicles also need the store code from your Business Profile and a link template with {store_code} where the code goes; online vehicles need a link. Each vehicle appears once, so several stores use repeated fields rather than repeated rows.
Prices are the amount, a space and the currency code, such as 18000.00 USD, and mileage is the number, a space and the unit, such as 24533 Miles. Models are written without the trim, new vehicles can have at most 200 miles, and body styles and engines come from Google's lists. Google builds the ad title itself, so the feed doesn't need one.
This template uses Google's attribute names and checks each column as it's filled in. Formats a column type can't check, such as the price and mileage, are in the column help. It has one store code and one fulfillment type per vehicle; a vehicle sold from several stores needs repeated columns added to the downloaded file. Fields only some countries need, such as emissions and registration dates, are left out.
