Create your own formProcore's column order
Type, Status, Cost Code, Cost Type and the rest in the order of the import template, so the file imports without rearranging.
Checked as they type
Case-sensitive types and cost types, dates in the wrong format, and amounts with dollar signs or commas are flagged.
Your own fields
Add a project name or job number to your own form to know which project each line belongs to.
Up to 1,000 rows
Room for a month of costs in one file.
How it works
From the job site to Procore in three steps.
01
Collect
Import an accounting export, or send the form to each project manager.
02
Complete
One cost line per row. Wrong cost types, dates in the wrong format and amounts with symbols are highlighted.
03
Download and import
Download the CSV and import it in the Direct Costs tool, after checking the cost codes exist in the project.
Why use a form?
One bad row stops the whole import.
Procore checks the file before it imports and keeps the Import button disabled until every error is fixed. Case-sensitive types, cost types in lower case, and dates in M/D/YYYY are common causes, and each round trip means fixing the file and uploading again.
A form checks each line as it's entered, so the file is ready the first time.
Case-sensitive values
Type, Terms and Cost Type must be spelled exactly as Procore writes them. Dropdowns keep them right.
Dates in the wrong format
US and Canadian projects read MM/DD/YYYY. M/D/YYYY and two-digit years fail the import.
Symbols in amounts
Unit cost and amount are numbers: a dollar sign or a comma in one is flagged.
Procore direct costs import template
How Procore imports direct costs
Procore's Direct Costs tool records invoices and expenses against a project's cost codes. Instead of entering them one at a time, you can import many from a CSV file, which Procore checks before anything is added.
Each line needs a type, a status, a cost code and a cost type. Invoices also need a vendor and an invoice number, and the vendor must already be in the Project Directory with the same spelling. The cost type is one of L, E, M, S, OC, SVC or O, and, like the type, it is case-sensitive.
Dates use the format set by the project's language: MM/DD/YYYY for US and Canadian projects. Procore fails the import if the header text, column order or number of columns changes, if there are blank rows, or if a value isn't one it knows. Rows with errors are listed in an Error column, and the Import button stays off until the file is fixed.
This template follows the column order in Procore's documentation and checks each column as it's filled in. Always compare the header row with the template you download from your own project.
