Need more than three rows?

Collect every shipment's packing list.

The free template is limited to three rows so you can try the workflow. Create your own form so every supplier sends packing lists in the same columns.

Create your own form

Forwarder-ready columns

The per-carton details forwarders, brokers and warehouses ask for.

Units fixed

Kilograms and centimetres in the headers, so pounds and inches don't slip into a column.

Your own fields

Add pallet numbers, lot numbers, expiry dates or marks and numbers.

Up to 1,000 rows

Room for a full container, carton by carton.

How it works

From a supplier's spreadsheet to the warehouse in three steps.

01

Collect

Send the form to each supplier before the goods ship.

02

Complete

One carton, or a range of identical cartons, per row. Missing weights and odd numbers are highlighted.

03

Download and send

Download the CSV and send it with the commercial invoice to your forwarder and warehouse.

Why use a form?

Weights that don't add up hold a shipment.

Packing lists arrive with some weights in pounds and some in kilograms, cartons missing from the count and quantities that don't match the invoice. The forwarder can't book the space, customs questions the totals, and the warehouse can't check the goods in.

A form keeps every supplier's list in the same units and columns, and flags missing details while they're still packing.

Pounds and kilograms mixed

Weights are in kilograms in the header, so a different unit is obvious before it ships.

Missing gross weights

Gross weight per carton is required, as forwarders and carriers price on it.

Cartons that don't add up

Each row says how many cartons it covers, so the total carton count is clear.

What a packing list needs

A packing list says what's in each carton of a shipment: the goods, how many, and the carton's weight and size. Forwarders book space and price the freight from it, customs checks it against the commercial invoice, and the receiving warehouse uses it to check the goods in.

List each carton, or each range of identical cartons, with its number as marked on the box. For a range such as cartons 1 to 20 holding the same goods, one row with the range and the number of cartons is enough; the totals are the per-carton figures times the number of cartons.

Give net weight (the goods alone) and gross weight (packed) per carton, and the carton's length, width and height. Forwarders price on the greater of gross weight and volumetric weight, which comes from the dimensions, so both need to be right. Keep one unit system in every column.

The quantities on the packing list should add up to the quantities on the commercial invoice, line for line. A carton missing from the list, or quantities that don't match, is one of the most common reasons customs or a warehouse stops a shipment to count it.

Import Builder is an independent product. The template follows the details forwarders, customs brokers and warehouses commonly ask for on a packing list, and isn't any carrier's or authority's own form.
