Need more than three rows?
Load a whole catalogue at once.
The free template is limited to three rows so you can try the workflow. Create your own form to collect up to a thousand products, from your team or from a supplier sending you their range.
Create your own formUp to 1,000 rows
One row per product, for your whole range.
inFlow column names
The headers are spelled as in inFlow's sample file, so inFlow maps them without you matching each one.
Checked as they type
Repeated product names and SKUs, prices with symbols and full country names are flagged.
Your categories and locations as dropdowns
Turn Category or Default Location into a list of your own in your form, so they always match inFlow.
How it works
From spreadsheet to inFlow in three steps.
01
Collect
Import your current product list or a supplier's price list, or send the form to whoever has the details.
02
Complete
Each product gets a row. Repeated names, prices that aren't numbers and country names instead of codes are highlighted.
03
Download
Download the CSV and import it in inFlow under Settings, Import, Product details.
Why use a form?
inFlow updates whatever matches the name.
inFlow matches products on their name. Two rows with the same name become one product, updated twice, and a name typed slightly differently creates a second product instead of updating the first. A spreadsheet doesn't warn you about either.
A form keeps every product in inFlow's format while it's gathered, so the import does what you expect.
Repeated names and SKUs
Product Name and SKU must each be unique in the file, so nothing is updated twice by mistake.
Barcodes Excel has mangled
Barcodes and SKUs are kept as text, so 0012345 keeps its zeros and long barcodes never become 1.23E+12.
Prices and countries inFlow can't read
Prices must be plain numbers, and country of origin a two-letter code such as AU, not Australia.
inFlow import template
Importing product details into inFlow Inventory
inFlow imports product details from a CSV file under Settings, then Import. Only the product name is required, and it must be unique: inFlow creates a product for a name it hasn't seen and updates the product that already has it. Headings typed without spaces, such as ProductName, are matched automatically; any others you match by hand in Edit data mapping. The results are emailed to whoever ran the import.
Updates are forgiving. Leaving out a column doesn't erase that data in inFlow, and blank cells leave existing values as they are, so you can import only the columns you're changing. Stock levels are a separate import, done after the products exist. Save the file as CSV UTF-8 if it has accents or other special characters.
A few rules catch people out. Prices follow your computer's regional settings for decimals. Serial tracking and the item type (stocked, non-stocked or service) can only be set when a product is first created. Country of origin must be a two-letter code such as AU or US, and several barcodes for one product go in the same cell, separated by commas. inFlow's help lists item types as Stocked product, Non-stocked product and Service, while its sample file uses Stockable, Non-Stocked and Service, so this template leaves that column as text.
This template checks each column as it's filled in. It can't check that vendors, locations and categories are spelled as they are in your inFlow account, so in your own form, turn those into dropdowns of your own values. Markup, tax, serial numbering and custom field columns are left out, as they depend on your inFlow setup; add them to your own form if you use them.
